Daffodil Day and Summer Fete – Latest news (May 2012)

Firstly, a massive thank you to Mr & Mrs Witherby for their generosity and hospitality towards the League of Friends in hosting Daffodil Day on Easter Sunday. Altogether a grand total of £615.25 was raised for the League of Friends. It was a chilly Sunday, but visitors still enjoyed strolling around the charming gardens and admiring the delightful daffodils, followed by a welcomed cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake. Of course there was also the opportunity to try your luck on the tombola or raffle, this all made for a very pleasant and enjoyable day. We have posted photos on our page ‘What we have done‘.

Our next event is the Annual Summer Fete on Saturday 26th May 2012, being held as usual in the hospital grounds from 1.00pm – 4.30pm. The Halesworth Hoppa will be picking up in Halesworth and Holton, and will shuttle passengers up and down during the afternoon. The first pick up will be in Bedingfield Crescent at 12.30pm, each run will take approximately 30 minutes and the bus can be flagged down at any point. The Middle School have kindly agreed to us using the school car park. Entertainment during the afternoon includes the return of the talented Budding Arts Dance Group, a Karate display by local youngsters and the ever popular belly dancers. Other attractions include Punch & Judy, Kiddies Corner, BBQ, Paravanni, various stalls, arts & crafts, plants, refreshments and much more. This year we will be running a ‘Bonny Baby’ competition. There will be three age categories – 6-12 months, 12-24 months and 2-3 years, with fabulous prizes to be won. To enter your beautiful babies please ring (01379) 588418. If anyone is interested in running a stall for the very reasonable sum of £10, or running a stall for the League of Friends please contact John Lewis on (01986) 872804. We will be in the Market Place each Wednesday during May (weather permitting) in the run up to the fete, where you will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets and chat to members about how to become more involved with the League of Friends. We look forward to seeing you on the 26th.

We have received donations this month in memory of Mrs J Sparkes, Mrs M Middleton, and Mr T Ross, along with a donation from Halesworth Group Seaig. Many thanks for all of these donations.
