Halesworth Community Nursing Care Fund News Letter

The Trustees are very grateful to all those who work so hard to support the Fund.  The Co-op at Halesworth has made us one of their charities to support this year. Leanne Pettit and her colleagues have organised discos, raffles and cake stalls as well as the green button collection. The Anglia Regional Co-operative Society has matched their staff’s fund-raising efforts, resulting in an amazing £1398.24 for the first part of the year. Thank you to everyone who is involved, and the Co-op and their customers for their generosity. The Co-op is continuing their support with a Disco on November 16th at the Rifle Hall 7pm until late with £5 admission fee.

Dee’s Den run by Dianne Shipley and Billy Mayhew with her wonderful band of volunteers continue to support the HCNCF with a fantastic £6,811 banked in June and August. The Trustees are in awe of how successful the “Den” has become and a big thank you to all those who continue to give items for sale to the Den.

An open garden event organised by Pat Champion generated £341.65 and the Halesworth Golf Club ladies match for the Carol Lander cup raised £55 and the U3A £80. A quiz night at Sibton White Horse in memory of the late Robin Bassam raised £500. We have also received donations in memory of Diane Stichbury, Frank Borrell, Anthony Shelley, Barbary Tulk, John Slater and Jan Davis.  These generous donations come from far and wide and we are so grateful that even overseas relatives nominate the HCNCF as their charity.

We currently have 59 participants in the 50/50 Club and draw   1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize every month. With much better odds than the lottery, please join and support our worthy cause. The 50/50 winners in July were Lorraine Hunt, Stuart Ferguson and Mrs C.Fryer. The winners for August were Dot Booley, Denis Rosedale and Mrs T Dickinson.

The fund is joining an Auction of Promises organised by The Holton St Peter’s Primary School on Friday 4th October at the Halesworth Golf Club. Tickets are available through the school, London Road Fish and Chip Shop and The Halesworth Book Shop. The proceeds will be shared between the HCNCF and the School. Thanks to Ellis Holt and the Friends/PTA of Holton School for their hard work in organising this event.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday 15th November at 2pm in the Garden Room at the Patrick Stead Hospital. Everyone is welcome. We will have a display of our plans for the Information and Support Centre and an update on our fundraising efforts for the project.
