May 2015 – Daffodil Success

Firstly, a big thank you to Alan & Kath Witherby for opening up their home and gardens for us again on Easter Sunday.  We had a record breaking year with daffodils in abundance, and pretty reasonable weather – it didn’t snow and we even had a glimpse of the sun!  There was a steady stream of visitors throughout the afternoon and we managed to raise a grand total on the day of £906.22.  The following week-end Alan and Kath opened their gardens again and decided to donate this to the League of Friends also.  So, our record breaking total raised this year is £1,056.22.  Many thanks go to everyone that visited us on the day at Rydal Mount, to everyone that baked and donated prizes, and to all members that were involved in any way.  Also, thank you to the Co-operative store for kindly donating an Easter egg to our draw.  Congratulations to Peter Dutton, winner of our Easter Hamper.

As promised last month we have more details of our Annual Summer Fete for you.  Radio Suffolk star Charlie Haylock will be opening proceedings on Saturday 30th May from 1pm – 4.30pm in the hospital grounds.  We have entertainment confirmed so far from the Budding Arts Dance Group and Halesworth Shotokan Karate Group.  Our compere for the afternoon, returning for a third year, is the wonderful Dudley Clarke.  There will be all the usual stalls and attractions, Parravani ice-creams, BBQ and refreshments served in the Garden Room.  We will have our kiddie’s corner for the youngsters and children’s entertainer Neil Reeve, will be performing walk around magic and balloon modelling throughout the afternoon.  Thanks to Spectra Packaging for sponsoring our first draw prize of £250, this will be drawn at the end of the afternoon, and includes further cash prizes totalling £175, a green voucher for Halesworth Golf Club, MOT at Blyth Road Garage, Fish & Chips from Seashell plus much more!  Thanks to all the local businesses that have supported us so far.  Do come and join us for a fun filled afternoon.  If anyone is interested in running a stall for us or would like to run their own stall at a cost of £10 for the afternoon, please call 01986 872804.  If anyone would like to join us but requires transport, please call 01379 588418.  If you are unable to attend but would like to purchase draw tickets, you will find us outside the Co-op food store in Halesworth on Saturday 9th May from 8.00am – 4.00pm, outside Durrants in the Thoroughfare on Saturday 23rd May from 9.00am – 12.30pm and at the Wednesday Market from 8.30am on the 29th April and the 13th May (both weather permitting).  We look forward to seeing you on the 30th May.
