Christmas tree festival in full swing!

We took part in the annual Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s Church in Halesworth.

Throughout December, our charity ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ tree was showcased at the church, alongside lots of other cleverly-decorated displays. All of the trees, which were put together by charities like ours and local community groups, used the theme ‘trees and carols’.

We hope you were able to drop in, enjoy the fantastic displays and get into the Christmas spirit!

In addition to the original intention we also raised £438 towards the ISC project – a good day all round, and many thanks to all members of the public who gave so generously.

Thank you Dee – you are a star.

Saturday 20th December 2014: Carol singers hit all the right notes

From 14th to 19th September 2014:
Coast-to-coast sponsored cycle rideRichard and Jon prepare for their cycle challenge

On Sunday 14th September Richard Kell and his son Jonathan set out from St David’s on the Pembrokeshire coast with a view to cycling to Southwold on the Suffolk coast, aiming to arrive on Friday September 19th. All funds raised to go towards the new Information and Support Centre.

The ride itself was obviously a major undertaking but we are all full of admiration for them both as, at 4.30pm on 19th, they rode in style down the Thoroughfare to a hero’s welcome, before leaving on the last leg of the journey to Southwold.

Possibly equally as amazing was the fact that they set themselves to raise a target of £5,000. When setting this target they made a grave tactical error because they pledged that if they raised over £10,000 they would make the trip wearing pink tutus. This prompted an extremely generous donor to donate a substantial sum to ensure they achieved their target. With friends like that………!
Anyway resplendent in their new attire they have managed to raise a figure which will hit in excess of £12,000, once all monies are received and we have claimed Gift Aid from our friend the Taxman. ( Update on 27th January 2015 – subject to allocation of the Gift Aid claim we expect the figure to exceed £17,000. Am aze ing!! ).

This really was a remarkable achievement and, deservedly, has prompted a lot of publicity for both Richard and Jon and, of course, the charity.

Well done you two – you are absolute stars. Many many thanks from all at HCNCF.

Please see our Press Release for more details.

Donations accepted until December 19th, 2014

We were lucky to be given a prominent position in the walled garden in order to inform the public about our Charity and in particular the ISC.

There was a great deal of interest and £445 was pledged in sponsorship for Richards bike ride and a further £50.00 was donated to the charity. We would like to thank all those who donated and in particular the Heveningham Hall Trust for their support.
