Summer fete a great success (June 2012)

Thank you very much to everyone who supported our Annual Summer Fete on Saturday 26th May. The afternoon was officially opened, and visitors welcomed, in the sunshine by Mr & Mrs Alan Witherby. There was a variety of stalls and crafts to browse, refreshments in the garden room, a B-B-Q and Parravani ice-cream to enjoy. Thanks go to all who ran stalls, and to the local businesses that kindly donated prizes for our grand draw. Also, thank you to Halesworth Middle School for allowing us to use their car park facilities and to Halesworth Hoppa for running visitors up and down.
The fire engine and crew joined us for the afternoon, along with Neil our local paramedic and Debbie from Community First Responders. Visitors enjoyed an afternoon of excellent entertainment provided by the Gypsy Dreams Belly Dancers, Lowestoft Signing Choir, Budding Arts Dance Group and Holton Shotokan Karate Club, thanks to you all. There was a chance to meet all the ‘bonny babies’ of Halesworth in our competition later in the afternoon, and there were lots! Judging was a very difficult task for Kath Witherby and PCSO Jackie Adams. Congratulations to our 3 winners, who won prizes kindly donated by Boots of Halesworth, and Cutlers Hill Pharmacy. Thanks go to the winner of our 4th prize of £50 in the draw, who very kindly donated her winnings back to us. Altogether takings currently stand at £3,152.93; this is a fantastic effort and once again a big thank you to everyone who was involved.

Also, thank you to everyone that visited us at the Lions Carnival on Sunday 10th June, with the recent heavy rainfall the event was transferred to the Angel Link car park; this didn’t put off visitors, and the rain stayed away. Altogether we took a grand total of £129.65.

Thank you very much to Halesworth United Reformed Church and Ipswich Town FC Supporters Club, Halesworth Branch for their kind donations and for a donation received in memory of Kath Colby. These donations help us to continue to support the excellent health and care services provided here.

This month members have agreed to the purchase of some moving and handling items, including a turn table, handling belt, slide sheet and extension handles and a Tunturi exercise bike for the Physiotherapy department.
