AGM News – December 2013

Our AGM was held on Wednesday 27th November in the Garden Room. Dr Bill Pagan was reappointed as President. Election of Officers: Chair – Karen Kerridge, Vice Chair – Alan Witherby, Secretary – John Lewis, Minutes Secretary – Yvonne Power, Treasurer – Mat Waters. Election of the Committee: Ian Feller, Pauline Feller, Roger Smith-Howell, Rosemary Smith-Howell, Jan Helliwell, and Kath Witherby. Thank you to all of our members, committee members and officers for all the time and effort that has been donated over the year in supporting the work of the League of Friends.

We have received donations from Alan & Kath Witherby and Spexhall Huntsman & Hounds Football Club, also in memory of Mrs J Jupp and Mrs E Grassing, and a donation in memory of Mrs Bickers for the Rayner Green Resource Centre. Sincere thanks for all of these donations. It is with the help of such donations that the League is able to support the health and care services provided here. Our picture shows Michael Reidy manager at the Rayner Green Resource Centre with user Christine Saunders enjoying one of the two reclining armchairs that the League recently purchased for the centre.

Just a reminder that on the 4th Friday of the month Suffolk Hearing Support Services have a session in the Garden Room from 10.00 – 12.00, this is for people to pop along and have their hearing aids cleaned and retubed, no appointment is necessary.

Our Christmas Fair is fast approaching; it is on Saturday 7th December from 10.00 – 12.00 in St Mary’s Church Hall. Please come along and give us a look, there will be handmade jewellery and cards, Woolnoughs Funeral Services will be running a chocolate tombola, and we will have a festive draw including our first prize of a turkey donated by Bernard Matthews and a Christmas hamper, as well as many other prizes. We will also be serving seasonal refreshments along with many other stalls and games. Any donations of baking, prizes etc. as always would be much appreciated; these can be delivered to 48 Dukes Drive beforehand or brought along to the church hall on the morning.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2014, and a big thank you to everyone for supporting us over 2013.
